Waterford Crystal Lismore
Lismore is the most enduring crystal-cut in history. Its beauty and elegance has made it Waterford's most loved collection. It is distinguished by its long wedge cuts in the crystal.
The Lismore pattern - introduced on October 23, 1952 - was created by crystal designer Miroslav Havel. 50 years later, the design stands proud as the world's favourite crystal design. A classic crystal whose simple cuts and balanced beauty are as fresh today as they were when first inspired by the village of Lismore in County Waterford. The village dates back to the early 7th century. Originally called Lios Mor Mocuda, by the 10th century Lismore had become one of Europe's greatest centres of Learning. Lismore Castle, perched spectacularly on a cliff high above the River Blackwater, has passed through many owner, endured many wars and pillages. It was once the seat of archbishops. From Sir Walter Raleigh it passed to the Earl of Cork and it has been in the possession of The Dukes of Devonshire for centuries since. The village has many interesting ecclessiastical ruins and the fishing in the Blackwater can be very rewarding!
Lismore is perhaps the most famous of all Waterford designs with its range of stemware being one of the most popular suites ever.
