"Céad Míle Fáilte" literally translates to "one hundred thousand welcomes", and is a traditional Irish greeting still widely used today. The Irish respect the significance of the welcome as a threshold or rite of passage. Among Celts, there is a wide recognition of the importance of chance meetings & random events (synchronicities) with a renowned openness to new experiences, opportunities & people. This is characterised by the expansive & generous nature of the phrase ‘céad míle fáilte’.

The Wildgoose studio is located in te picturesque town of Kinsale, Co. Cork. Brian Scott-McCarthy and Kathleen Smyth founded the Wild Goose Studio in 1970 with a vision of awakening the imagination through a fusion of thought, feeling and image. Together with other leading Irish artists, they have created a unique range of artefacts which combine heritage with the contemporary.
